CAM Wizard N/C Programming Software

CHECK Program – Lathe

The CAM-Wizard CHECK program is used to check out an NC tape that has been made on the CAM-Wizard system or any other system. The CHECK program simulates the N/C machine tool to prove out the tape. This program is normally loaded from the TAPE editor.

"TURN SHAPE"

When the CHECK program is loaded, the screen comes up divided into two parts. The main part of the screen will display a graphic representation of the part geometry, automatically scaled to fit on the screen (the part geometry from CAM will be displayed.), and the lower part of the screen will display the status of the machine as well as the block of tape to be executed. Program execution will stop with the first tool listed on the lower left part of the screen. At this point, the user has four options.

1 ....... SCALEnn Used to change the scale of the display as
                        in program CAM

2 ....... CORNER Xnn Znn Used to corner a part of the
                        display as in program CAM

3 ....... Tn Used to search for the next tool to be used in
                        check

4 ....... nn Enter the tool description; if nothing is
entered and a tool list exists in comments on the
tape, then the tool description is read from the
                        tape.

The user then presses [Enter] to continue execution of the tape. If the system beeps, the tool is too large to be plotted properly on the screen at this scale and the screen must be scaled down.

In running the tape, the tool will be drawn and proceed along the tool path so the tape can be checked by the user. Turning tools, boring tools, grooving tools, drills, and threading tools are drawn at the same scale with the correct nose radius. Feeding paths of the tools will be plotted by a painted in circle, leaving a filled in path while it is cutting. Rapid moves are represented by dotted lines. While the tool is moving along the path determined by the tape, the status line near the bottom of the screen continuously updates the status of the N/C machine tool. The display monitors the G CODES, S CODES, F CODES, and X, Y, and Z positions commanded by the tape.

There are seven function keys available to the user during program execution.

[F1] .... Feed hold

[F2] .... Single block

[F3] .... Feed rate/2, used to slow down the display

[F4] .... Feed rate*2, used to speed up the display

[F5] .... Restart, used to restart the program at the
                        beginning

[F6] .... To toggle between painting and not painting
                        the turning path

[F7] .... Next tool, used to search for the next tool

The typing of Ctrl-C at any time in the program will cause the program to be exited and return the user to the TAPE editor. At the end of the program, a message will appear telling the user that the program is finished executing and the TAPE editor will be loaded after any key has been pressed.
